Pasture Poultry Workshop

A Beginning Farmer & Rancher Development Program project on Pastured and Free-Range Poultry is offering a four-day course at UC Davis for any prospective, beginner, or intermediate farmer interested in raising poultry flocks (layers and/or broilers) on pasture. Topics will include husbandry practices, housing, records maintenance, biosecurity, and more. The courses will include both lecture and hands-on labs and provide farmers with the knowledge and resources to succeed. This course will provide insightful information on successfully raising poultry flocks on pasture, as well as practical expertise, connections with other farmers and professionals in the field, and better awareness and knowledge of resources and opportunities available.

Our 1, 2, and 5 day courses aim to provide beginning poultry farmers in California and Oregon essential information regarding such topics as husbandry practices, housing, records maintenance, biosecurity, and more. The courses will include both lecture and hands-on labs and provide farmers with the knowledge and resources to succeed in this growing industry!

Four-day course: $80, or $20 for each of the four days.
